Statement of Values

A Commitment to the Bible as the Word of God

We believe that everything we think, say, and do as a church must be founded upon God’s written Word to us.  We are committed to Bible preaching and teaching which helps each disciple to understand the Bible’s message and to obey the Bible's commands.  (II Timothy 2:15, 3:15-17;II Peter 1:20-21; John 14:21)

A Commitment to Prayer

We believe that prayer is vitally important to the spiritual life of every disciple.  It is through prayer that we come to know God intimately and experience His power in our service to Him.  We will express our love and gratitude to God in both private and public prayer.  We will pray for one another and for all in need.  We will especially undergird those at home and abroad who are going forth with the gospel of Christ.  (John 15:7; Ephesians 6:18-20; Colossians 4:2; Philippians 4:6-7)

God-Centered Worship

We are committed to providing times of worship in which believers personally hear God’s voice through Bible teaching which is both true to the ancient text and clearly applied to our present personal challenges and corporate mission.  We trust that through His Word the Lord will enable each disciple to see Him and to understand His character.  We desire worship in which God’s people, thrilled by His greatness and goodness, are free to pour out their hearts directly to Him through heart-stirring, heart-warming songs of praise and thanksgiving.  (Psalm 100, 145-150, 1 Chronicles 29:10-13)

Evangelism and Disciple Making

We believe in the Christ of “The Great Commission”.  We believe that it is the joy, privilege, and responsibility of every disciple to be a verbal witness for Him.  We are committed to providing each member with the finest possible training in personal evangelism so that together we may become a “Great Commission Army” taking the initiative in carrying the Good News to our families, to friends, to Frisco City, and ultimately to foreign fields.  Our watchword in evangelism will  be: “Equipping disciples to reach Frisco City, to reach the world for Christ”.  Our goal in evangelism is to lead every convert to full maturity in Christ.

The challenge of evangelization is crucial. Christ Himself has commissioned us. We will discharge
this delightful duty by His grace and for His glory.  (Matthew 4:19, 28:18-20;  Mark 16:15;  Luke 24:46-49;  John 20:21;  Acts 1:8;  John 15:16;  Ephesians 4:11-16;  Colossians 1:28-29)

Genuine Fellowship

We are committed to the development of strong relationships among disciples.  We recognize that the richest kind of fellowship is that which results as a by-product of the joint struggle to advance the Kingdom of God through the spreading of His gospel.  We will continually seek to cultivate a healthy church fellowship characterized by mutual encouragement, mutual accountability, and biblical church discipline.  (Hebrews 10:24-25;  Luke 10:1-20;  Acts 2:46-47;  Matthew 18:15-20;  Galatians 6:1)

Completely Committed Christian Living

We are committed to producing a body of completely committed disciples who are characterized by:

1. The intimacy of their walk with God.  (Philippians 3:10)

2. The fruitfulness of their witness for Christ.  (Romans 1:16)

3. Their obedience to Him in the spiritual disciplines of daily time alone with God, personal Bible study, scripture memory, prayer, fellowship, witnessing, and service. (John 15:5; II Tim. 2:15; Psalm 1; Eph. 6:18; Heb. 10:24-25; Matt. 4:19; John 15:13)

4. Their holiness and purity of life.  (I Peter 1:14-16, 2:11;  Romans 12:1-2)

5. Their lifestyle of total surrender to the Lordship of Christ at home, at work, at leisure-- obeying Christ in every detail of life.  (I Peter 3:15)

6. Values and standards clearly shaped by the Word of God rather than by prevailing culture.  (Matthew 5-7;  II Corinthians 6:16-18;  Philippians 2:15)

Strong Christian Families

We are committed to cultivating Christian families strong enough to survive and thrive in the midst of today’s unprecedented pressures.  We will continually provide practical, biblical training to help couples strengthen their love for one another, their commitment to one another, and their enjoyment of one another.  We will equip parents to raise godly, obedient children who will bring joy to them and glory to God.

We believe that such a commitment is vital to the future of our church, our community, and our world.  We recognize that Christ-centered homes producing godly children are crucial to the future success of our evangelistic and missions efforts.  (Ephesians 5:22-33;  Deuteronomy 6:4-9;  Psalm 127-128)

A Commitment to Global Missions

We believe that we are responsible for the evangelization of the world.  We will keep the challenge of the world-wide missionary enterprise continually before our eyes.  We will seek to foster an atmosphere so permeated by evangelism and missions that disciples routinely hear God’s call to missionary service and respond obediently.  We will support our missionaries by our gifts and by pouring out our souls for them in intercessory prayer as they carry the glorious gospel to the remotest parts of the globe.  (Matt. 28:18-20; Acts 1:8, 13:1-3; Phillipians 1:3-5; I Thess. 1:5-8)

A Commitment to Excellence

God is a God of excellence.  (Psalm 8:1-9, 36:7, 76:4, 148:13, 150:2)  His reputation, His glory and honor are at stake.  Therefore, in everything we do we must strive to glorify Him by the excellence of our work.  Every aspect of our church’s life which touches the world around us must be characterized by excellence.  “Excellence in all things, and all things for God’s glory.”  (Isaiah 24:15;  Romans 15:6;  I Corinthians 10:31;  I Peter 2:12;  Ephesians 3:21)

Sound Doctrine

We are committed to safeguarding the purity of our doctrine.  We recognize that right living can never be divorced from right believing.  We will “contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 3).  We believe that the needs people have today are effectively met only by the Christian faith as given by Christ and His apostles and most faithfully preserved in the rich heritage of Augustine, the Reformers, the Puritans, and historic Baptist theology.  (John 14:26;  Galatians 1:6-9;  II Timothy 1:13-14, 3:14-17;  II Peter 1:20-21, 3:1-2;  II John 9;  Jude 3)
